Limhamns Brassband på Konserthuset

Limhamns Brassband startade 1918 som en traditionell blåsorkester och blev i starten känd som Limhamns Kyrkliga Ungdomskrets Musikkår eller LKU-orkestern. 1948 gjordes dock LKU-orkestern om till ett brassband av engelskt snitt. I början så bestod spelningarna enbart av söndagsskolans julfest och vårens terminsavslutning. Under åren har spelningarna utökats till att inkludera konserter inom såväl som utanför Sverige. Under åren har orkestern haft ett flertal dirigenter såväl som gästdirigenter. Nuvarande dirigent Andreas Wetterlund är både en duktig brassmusiker och arrangör vilket har gangnat brassbandets repertoar.

Limhamns Brassband started 1918 as a traditional symphonic wind band and was in the beginning known as the Youth Music Corps of Limhamn Church or the LCY orchestra. However, in 1948 the band was reformed to a brassband based on English standards. In the beginning the concerts were the Christmas Party of the Sunday School and the Spring Graduation. During the years that has gone by since then the gigs has included both concerts within and outside of Sweden. Several conductors and guest conductors has passed the podium during the years. The current conductor is both a talented brass musician and arranger of music which has benefitted the repertoire of the band.
